Job Summary:
The Assistant Procurement Manager oversees the sourcing, negotiation, and management of raw materials, chemicals, and essential supplies crucial for paint production. This role involves building and maintaining supplier relationships, optimizing procurement processes, and ensuring timely and cost-effective material delivery to support manufacturing operations.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Act as the Site Responsible Person for all Raw Material, Indirect Material, and CAPEX procurement activities, being the primary contact for procurement-related queries on-site.
  • Utilize data-driven insights for Raw Material Management, including market intelligence, negotiation strategies, and category strategy development to balance cost, supply security, and other considerations effectively.
  • Conduct negotiations and periodic price renewals for Raw Materials to secure favorable terms, drive cost savings, and enhance profitability.
  • Source new Raw Materials, select suppliers, and assess factors such as quality, cost optimization, lead times, supply chain reliability, sustainability, and product innovation to meet business needs.
  • Manage sourcing activities for Indirect Materials & CAPEX, including supplier selection and justification based on business requirements and internal policies.
  • Collaborate closely with quality control and assurance teams to maintain stringent quality standards for raw materials and finished products, ensuring compliance with industry-specific regulations and safety standards.
  • Analyze market trends, update Global reports, and identify cost-saving opportunities in collaboration with local functions - technical, operations, and sales.
  • Develop and manage the procurement budget, track expenses, and identify areas for cost reduction and operational efficiency enhancement.
  • Draft, review, and manage procurement contracts and agreements, ensuring terms and conditions align with raw material supply.
  • Identify, evaluate, and manage supplier relationships, ensuring long-term performance and benefits for the local unit while maintaining compliance with procurement guidelines.
  • Supervise and mentor procurement staff, offering guidance, training, and performance evaluations.
  • Assess and mitigate procurement-related risks, including supply chain disruptions and fluctuations in material prices.
  • Maintain accurate data in central databases, ensuring timely updates and maximum accuracy.

Job Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree, preferably in business, supply chain management, chemistry, or a related field. A master's degree is advantageous.
  • 7-10 years of proven experience in procurement or supply chain management within the paint or chemical industry.
  • Knowledge of paint industry-specific raw materials, chemicals, and suppliers is advantageous.
  • Essential experience in Direct, Indirect Materials, and CAPEX procurement.
  • Commercially driven mindset, understanding the correlation between procurement and business outcomes.
  • Familiarity with industry regulations, safety standards, and chemical handling protocols.
  • Organized, data-driven, with strong negotiation, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Fluent in English, both written and verbal.
  • Experience with Procurement/Purchasing ERP systems (preferably Microsoft Dynamics AX) or other software is beneficial.
  • Leadership and team management skills.
