Job Summary:
As the ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) Manager, you will play a pivotal role in advancing our client’s sustainability objectives and ensuring that their operations align with the highest ESG standards. You will be working closely with the Chief People & Sustainability Officer on developing and implementing strategies, policies, and initiatives that drive positive environmental, social, and governance outcomes. This role requires a forward-thinking and detail-oriented individual who is passionate about sustainability and corporate responsibility.
You will be responsible for driving our client’s ESG initiatives and ensuring alignment with global best practices while considering the unique challenges and opportunities in the UAE region and globally. Your role will be instrumental in advancing our sustainability goals and enhancing our corporate reputation.

Job Responsibilities:
ESG Strategy and Planning:
  • Develop and execute the company's ESG strategy.
  • Establish clear ESG objectives, targets, and KPIs to track progress.
Environmental Sustainability:
  • Lead efforts to reduce the environmental impact of our steel manufacturing operations, including carbon emissions, water usage, and waste management.
  • Ensure compliance with UAE environmental regulations and standards.
Social Responsibility:
  • Collaborate with local communities and stakeholders to address social issues and promote positive social impact.
  • Implement social initiatives that benefit employees, communities, and society at large in the UAE.
  • Prepare documentation and data collection for the GHG emissions reporting, audit and verification statements.
Governance Excellence:
  • Enhance corporate governance practices, ethics, and transparency.
  • Ensure compliance with UAE governance regulations and international standards.
ESG Reporting:
  • Prepare and deliver regular ESG reports and disclosures, tailored to meet local and international reporting requirements. Assist CPSO in development of the ESG Report and Carbon Neutrality Reporting.
  • Engage with investors and other stakeholders on ESG matters.
Stakeholder Engagement:
  • Foster strong relationships with local governmental bodies, NGOs, industry associations, and community leaders in the UAE.
  • Represent the company in ESG-related forums and discussions.
  • Engaging with external stakeholders, such as suppliers, customers, and community members, to promote sustainable practices and build partnerships.
Risk Management:
  • Identify and assess ESG-related risks specific to the UAE market and develop strategies to mitigate them.
  • Identify opportunities for sustainable growth in the region.
Employee Engagement:
  • Develop training programs and awareness initiatives to instill a culture of sustainability and responsible business practices among employees in the UAE.

  • Establishing and implementing IMS (Integrated Management System) in accordance to ISO 9001-2015, ISO14001-2015 and OHSAS 18001-2018.
  • Management of environmental data, data verification & assurance, and performance reporting to internal and external stakeholders e.g., CDP, OGP, annual reports, and accounts.
  • ESG Development of ESG indicators, policies, and reporting, Zero Waste to Landfill, Net Water Positive, Net Zero Emission, GRI (Global Reporting Initiative) reporting.
  • Documentation and implementation of requirements of various product conformity certificates.
  • Set environmental requirements in the scope of work during tendering, evaluation of bids and managing contractors for implementation of environmental requirements.
  • Work closely with the HSE Head on related issues and initiatives.

Job Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in sustainability, environmental management, business, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
  • Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in ESG management or sustainability roles, preferably with experience in the UAE or the Middle East.
  • Deep understanding of local ESG regulations and practices in the UAE.
  • Proficiency in global ESG reporting frameworks and standards.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret ESG data.
  • Project management skills and attention to detail.
  • Alignment with the values and vision of the company.
  • Strong leadership experience and skills with the ability to provide direction to others.
  • Exceptional analytical skills for problem-solving as well as excellent communication skills.
