Job Brief:The
Clearing Officer is responsible for managing and ensuring the smooth clearance of import shipments by coordinating with customs authorities, freight forwarders, and regulatory bodies. This role requires a strong understanding of UAE import/export regulations, accurate documentation handling, and effective communication to ensure timely clearance and delivery of goods. The position plays a critical role in maintaining compliance with UAE customs laws and minimizing supply chain delays within the FMCG / food trading environment.
Job Responsibilities:- Coordinate with customs authorities, freight forwarders, and government agencies to ensure timely shipment clearance.
- Ensure all required documentation (Bill of Lading, invoices, packing lists, permits, etc.) is prepared, verified, and submitted accurately and on time.
- Monitor customs clearance progress and proactively address issues that may cause delays.
- Prepare and submit Food Import Release (FIRS) applications in compliance with Dubai Municipality regulations.
- Handle the release of shipments from Dubai Municipality and other regulatory authorities.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of UAE import/export regulations, tariffs, and duty structures.
- Work closely with suppliers and freight forwarders to ensure smooth logistics and clearance operations.
- Verify and track shipping documents to ensure compliance with local laws and internal company policies.
- Coordinate with warehouse and logistics teams to facilitate timely receipt of cleared shipments.
- Assist in resolving customs-related disputes by liaising with relevant government departments.
- Maintain accurate and organized documentation records for audits and future reference.
- Ensure accurate calculation and timely payment of customs duties and taxes.
- Issue Non-Conformity Reports (NCRs) for shipment discrepancies, damages, or documentation issues.
- Monitor shipment schedules and regularly update internal departments on clearance status.
- Coordinate with the accounts team by providing required documents for costing and payment processing.
- Support sourcing of competitive freight and clearing charges.
- Be physically present for all import shipment inspections as required by the Clearance Team.
