Job Brief:

Our client is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer – Automation with hands-on experience in commercial refrigeration systems, electrical design, PLC programming, and automation.

The Electrical Engineer – Automation will be responsible for designing and developing electrical control systems, preparing electrical drawings, programming PLC/HMI systems, troubleshooting electrical and automation issues, and supporting the testing and commissioning of refrigeration and related equipment.

The ideal candidate should have a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in electrical engineering, automation, and control systems, with hands-on experience in commercial or industrial refrigeration systems being essential. Strong working knowledge of Schneider Electric PLC/automation systems and AutoCAD Electrical would be highly relevant to the position.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop electrical and automation control systems for commercial refrigeration and related equipment.
  • Create, modify, and optimise electrical design drawing packages using AutoCAD Electrical.
  • Design electrical control panels, wiring diagrams, schematics, cable routing, and related electrical documentation.
  • Develop, write, modify, and troubleshoot PLC and HMI programs for equipment and control systems.
  • Work primarily with Schneider Electric PLC/control systems, with exposure to Siemens and Allen-Bradley systems.
  • Select and integrate electrical and instrumentation components, including sensors, controllers, VFDs, relays, and other control devices.
  • Understand electrical requirements associated with commercial refrigeration systems, including compressors, motors, fans, temperature/pressure controls, and related components.
  • Support the planning, design, and development of test setups for commercial kitchen refrigeration and ventilation systems.
  • Carry out testing, troubleshooting, and fault diagnosis of electrical, PLC, and automation systems.
  • Support the installation, commissioning, and performance testing of equipment.
  • Coordinate with mechanical, production, and project teams to ensure proper integration of electrical and refrigeration systems.
  • Ensure electrical designs and installations comply with applicable engineering standards, project specifications, and safety requirements.
  • Prepare and maintain technical documentation, drawings, I/O lists, and other project-related electrical documents.

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree / Diploma in Electrical Engineering, Electrical & Electronics Engineering, Automation Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 2 years of relevant experience in electrical engineering, automation, and control systems.
  • Hands-on experience with commercial or industrial refrigeration systems is essential.
  • Good understanding of refrigeration electrical controls and automation systems.
  • Experience in PLC programming, HMI programming, and troubleshooting.
  • Strong working knowledge of Schneider Electric PLC/automation systems is highly preferred.
  • Exposure to Siemens and Allen-Bradley PLC/control systems would be an advantage.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD Electrical for preparing electrical drawings and schematics.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, wiring diagrams, P&IDs, and technical documentation.
  • Knowledge of instrumentation, sensors, VFDs, motor controls, and electrical control panels.
  • Hands-on experience in testing, commissioning, and troubleshooting electrical/automation systems.
  • Understanding of mechanical refrigeration systems and their interaction with electrical and automation controls.
  • Experience within commercial refrigeration, industrial refrigeration, commercial kitchen equipment, HVAC/refrigeration equipment manufacturing, or similar industries is strongly preferred.
