We are seeking an experienced Electrical Section Head to lead the electrical maintenance function of a leading paper manufacturing facility in Abu Dhabi. The role is responsible for overseeing electrical operations, asset reliability, maintenance planning, power distribution systems, team leadership, and compliance initiatives to ensure maximum plant availability and operational efficiency.

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in tissue paper manufacturing or advanced paper mill operations, with a strong background in electrical maintenance, high-voltage systems, asset management, shutdown planning, and team leadership. This Electrical Section Head Job in Abu Dhabi is ideal for professionals who can drive reliability improvements, manage maintenance budgets, and lead high-performing electrical teams in a continuous process manufacturing environment.

Job Responsibilities:

1. Leadership & Team Management
  • Lead, mentor, and manage the electrical department team (Engineers, Supervisors, and Technicians) to ensure high performance and strict accountability.
  • Establish clear, measurable Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for the electrical team and conduct regular performance reviews.
  • Manage the shift rosters, resource allocation, and technical training programs to upskill the team on modern tissue machine systems.
2. Strategic Maintenance & Shutdown Planning
  • Oversee the execution of all preventive (PM), predictive (PdM), and corrective electrical maintenance schedules via the CMMS (SAP PM).
  • Act as the primary coordinator for major planned mill shutdowns, defining the electrical scope, resource planning, spare parts availability, and timeline execution.
  • Manage and optimize the electrical maintenance operational budget (OPEX), tracking expenses and reducing overall maintenance costs without compromising plant reliability.
3. Power Distribution & Asset Integrity
  • Hold ultimate responsibility for the mill’s power infrastructure, including substations, transformers, switchgears, UPS systems, and emergency generators.
  • Coordinate directly with local utilities (e.g., ADDC/TAQA) and external statutory bodies for mandatory electrical inspections, testing, and compliance.
  • Supervise the spare parts strategy for critical electrical assets, ensuring optimal stock levels for high-value items (e.g., heavy-duty motors, VFD modules, circuit breakers) to eliminate extended downtime.
4. QHSE & Compliance Leadership
  • Enforce an absolute culture of safety across the electrical section, ensuring 100% compliance with UAE federal laws and ISO 45001 / ISO 14001 standards.
  • Ensure all standard operating procedures (SOPs) for high-voltage switching, Arc Flash mitigation, and Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) are actively audited, updated, and strictly followed by the team.

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or Higher Degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • Minimum of 8-10+ years of total experience in electrical maintenance within a heavy manufacturing/continuous process environment.
  • At least 3-5 years in a supervisory or leadership role (Section Head, Lead Engineer, or Superintendent) specifically within Tissue Paper Manufacturing or advanced Paper Mills.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of paper mill electrical infrastructure: Sectional multi-drive systems, high-power VFDs (ABB/Siemens), HV/MV substations, and large induction motors.
  • Strong proficiency in managing maintenance workflows and asset history through SAP PM or equivalent enterprise CMMS.
  • Experience handling capital improvement projects (CAPEX) from estimation to commissioning.
  • Direct, authoritative, yet collaborative leadership style.
  • Excellent communication skills to interface effectively between floor-level technicians and executive mill management.
