Job Brief:
Our client, a company operating in the water treatment industry, is seeking a Junior Project Engineer to support the planning, coordination, and execution of engineering projects. The role involves assisting in managing project schedules, monitoring progress, coordinating with internal teams and external stakeholders, and ensuring that projects are completed within scope, budget, and timeline.
The ideal candidate will have a strong technical understanding of engineering projects, particularly within water treatment, construction, or oil & gas sectors. The role requires effective communication, strong documentation and reporting skills, and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams while ensuring compliance with company standards, safety regulations, and project specifications.

Job Responsibilities:
Project Planning & Execution
  • Develop comprehensive project plans, including project scope, schedule, and budget, to guide project execution and delivery.
  • Allocate and manage project resources such as personnel, equipment, and materials to ensure efficient utilization and successful project outcomes.
  • Continuously monitor project progress, track milestones, and control project variables to ensure timely completion and alignment with project goals.
Stakeholder Coordination & Communication
  • Collaborate with project stakeholders, including clients, contractors, subcontractors, suppliers, and internal team members, to communicate project requirements, resolve issues, and maintain strong working relationships.
  • Communicate project updates, progress, and milestones with the project team to ensure alignment on project status, tasks, and timelines.
  • Provide technical guidance to site personnel, including electricians and technicians, while addressing field-level technical issues.
Quality Assurance & Compliance
  • Ensure that construction and project activities comply with project specifications, quality standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Implement quality control measures to monitor project deliverables and ensure adherence to required quality standards.
  • Follow company SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures) and maintain compliance with applicable industry regulations and standards.
  • Risk Management & Problem SolvingIdentify potential project risks, assess their impact, and develop mitigation strategies to minimize disruptions and ensure successful project delivery.
  • Assist in developing and implementing corrective actions to address project risks, delays, or technical challenges.
Scope, Schedule & Cost Control
  • Assess and manage changes to project scope, schedule, and budget, ensuring appropriate documentation, communication, and stakeholder alignment.
  • Maintain strong control over project timelines and deliverables to ensure effective execution.
Documentation & Reporting
  • Maintain accurate project documentation, including project plans, reports, and correspondence, to ensure proper recordkeeping and effective communication.
  • Prepare timely progress reports highlighting project milestones, risks, and challenges while providing updates to stakeholders and management.
  • Ensure documentation aligns with governance and reporting requirements.
Contract Administration Support
  • Assist in the administration of project contracts, including reviewing terms, managing contract changes, and ensuring contractual obligations are fulfilled.
  • Project CloseoutConduct project closeout activities, including final inspections, documentation preparation, and client handover to ensure smooth project completion.
Meetings & Additional Responsibilities
  • Attend weekly meetings and technical forums to discuss project progress and technical matters.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineers, technicians, and project managers, to plan and execute project activities.
  • Adhere to confidentiality requirements, including Non-Disclosure Agreements (NDA).
  • Perform additional responsibilities assigned by the supervisor or management from time to time.
Communications & Working Relationships:
Internal 
  • Management: Provide updates on project progress, highlight challenges, and report on budgets, resources, and timelines to support informed decision-making.
  • Project Manager: Report project progress, provide updates, and seek guidance where necessary.
  • Project Team: Share updates on project progress, tasks, and milestones to ensure alignment and effective execution.
  • Site Personnel: Communicate technical instructions and provide support to electricians, technicians, and field teams.
External
  • Clients: Maintain regular communication to understand project requirements, address concerns, and provide updates on project progress to ensure client satisfaction.
  • Subcontractors & Suppliers: Engage in technical discussions and communicate project-related technical information, solutions, and recommendations to ensure clarity and alignment with project specifications.
Frameworks, Boundaries & Decision-Making Authority
  • Critical project decisions must be taken in consultation with the Project Manager.
  • Any communication with clients or cross-department teams should be appropriately informed or coordinated with the relevant functional head.
  • Work closely with contractors, subcontractors, and cross-functional teams to ensure compliance with project requirements and facilitate effective project execution.
Job Requirements:
  • Minimum 2+ years of experience in the water treatment, construction, or oil & gas sectors, preferably within a projects department.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or Mechanical Engineering.
  • Proficiency in Project Management tools and systems.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
  • Hands-on experience with ERP systems.
  • Project planning and execution.
  • Strong technical understanding of engineering projects.
