Job Brief:

Our client is seeking a qualified and motivated Mechanical Engineer to support the engineering, procurement, installation, testing, commissioning, and handover of water and wastewater pumping station projects. The successful candidate will coordinate mechanical engineering activities with clients, consultants, subcontractors, suppliers, and internal project teams to ensure all mechanical works are executed in accordance with contract requirements, project specifications, applicable international standards, and approved project schedules.

The ideal candidate will have experience in water, wastewater, pumping stations, or industrial EPC projects, with strong technical knowledge of mechanical systems, rotating equipment, and project execution. Job Responsibilities:

  • Review contract specifications, drawings, Bills of Quantities (BOQs), and employer requirements related to mechanical systems.
  • Review and coordinate mechanical engineering designs, shop drawings, and technical submittals.
  • Prepare and review material submittals, method statements, Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs), risk assessments, and commissioning procedures.
  • Review vendor drawings, data sheets, and technical documentation for pumps, valves, piping systems, surge vessels, cranes, HVAC systems, lifting equipment, and other mechanical equipment.
  • Coordinate engineering activities with civil, structural, electrical, instrumentation, and process disciplines to ensure proper system integration.
  • Support procurement activities by reviewing technical offers, responding to technical queries, participating in vendor evaluations, and assisting with material selection.
  • Coordinate with equipment manufacturers and suppliers to ensure timely submission and approval of engineering documents and delivery schedules.
  • Supervise the installation of pumps, valves, piping systems, fittings, supports, surge vessels, lifting equipment, and associated mechanical works.
  • Monitor subcontractor performance and ensure compliance with approved drawings, project specifications, quality requirements, and HSE procedures.
  • Coordinate inspections with clients, consultants, and relevant authorities, ensuring timely closure of inspection comments.
  • Verify piping alignments, equipment installation, leveling, grouting, shaft alignment, torque tightening, and mechanical completion activities.
  • Witness hydrostatic testing, pressure testing, flushing, disinfection, cleaning, and mechanical integrity testing of piping systems.
  • Coordinate pre-commissioning and commissioning activities, including equipment rotation checks, lubrication, vibration monitoring, performance testing, and operational verification.
  • Participate in pump performance testing, system balancing, reliability testing, and integrated system commissioning.
  • Prepare punch lists, monitor snag rectification, and ensure timely closure of outstanding works before project handover.
  • Prepare as-built drawings, operation and maintenance documentation, testing records, and commissioning reports.
  • Participate in progress meetings and provide regular updates on engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning activities.
  • Ensure full compliance with company quality management systems, project procedures, and HSE requirements throughout project execution.

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • 5-7 years of relevant experience in mechanical engineering.
  • Experience in water, wastewater, pumping stations, or industrial EPC projects is preferred.
  • Good knowledge of centrifugal pumps, piping systems, valves, surge protection systems, and rotating equipment.
  • Familiarity with international standards such as ISO, ASME, API, ANSI, AWWA, and project quality requirements.
  • Ability to review engineering drawings, technical specifications, P&IDs, General Arrangement (GA) drawings, and vendor documentation.
  • Good communication, coordination, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently while effectively managing multiple priorities and project deadlines.
  • Experience with water transmission and pumping station projects will be an advantage.
  • Experience in the installation and commissioning of horizontal and vertical centrifugal pumps will be an advantage.
  • Knowledge of GRE, carbon steel, stainless steel, and HDPE piping systems will be an advantage.
  • Experience with motor-operated valves (MOVs), butterfly valves, gate valves, check valves, control valves, surge vessels, air valves, dismantling joints, expansion joints, and strainers will be an advantage.
  • Experience in mechanical alignment, shaft alignment, and pump performance testing will be an advantage.
  • Experience coordinating with utility authorities, consultants, and EPC contractors will be an advantage.
  • Familiarity with document management systems and project management procedures.
  • UAE experience and knowledge of DEWA standards will be an advantage.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and AutoCAD is required.
  • Working knowledge of Autodesk Navisworks and Autodesk Revit will be an advantage.
