Job Brief:

Our client in the paper manufacturing industry is seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer – Area Infra / Utilities to ensure the reliable operation, maintenance, and optimization of utility and process mechanical systems across the plant. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining boilers, steam systems, pumps, compressors, chillers, cooling towers, effluent treatment systems, stock preparation equipment, paper machine auxiliaries, and other critical utility assets.

The ideal candidate will have strong experience in preventive and predictive maintenance, troubleshooting, shutdown maintenance, reliability improvement, and leading maintenance teams within paper mills, pulp and paper, or other continuous process industries.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the reliable operation, maintenance, and optimization of utility and process mechanical systems across boiler houses, ETP, air compressors, chillers, stock preparation, pulpers, paper machine auxiliaries, and converting sections.
  • Lead troubleshooting and repair of boilers, pumps, compressors, chillers, cooling towers, agitators, pulpers, gearboxes, conveyors, and rotating equipment.
  • Plan and execute preventive, predictive, and shutdown maintenance activities.
  • Perform Root Cause Analysis (RCA) for major equipment breakdowns and implement effective corrective actions.
  • Maintain utility systems, including steam, condensate, compressed air, cooling water, and effluent treatment equipment.
  • Manage maintenance contractors while ensuring compliance with quality, safety, and operational standards.
  • Optimize spare parts inventory and ensure the availability of critical mechanical equipment spares.
  • Support the installation, commissioning, and performance testing of new equipment and plant upgrades.
  • Ensure compliance with HSE standards, Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures, environmental requirements, and risk assessment practices.
  • Collaborate with production, utilities, electrical, instrumentation, civil, and safety teams to improve equipment reliability, reduce downtime, and enhance energy efficiency.
  • Maintain maintenance records and utilize SAP PM (CMMS) to support maintenance planning and execution.

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • 7–10+ years of experience in paper mills, pulp and paper, or continuous process industries.
  • Strong hands-on experience in utility and process maintenance, including boilers, steam systems, pumps, compressors, chillers, cooling towers, rotating equipment, ETP, and paper machine auxiliaries.
  • Working knowledge of SAP PM (CMMS) and preventive and predictive maintenance practices.
  • Experience in troubleshooting, reliability improvement, shutdown maintenance, and leading maintenance teams.
  • Strong knowledge of lubrication, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
  • Ability to interpret mechanical drawings, P&IDs, and OEM manuals.
  • Basic knowledge of vibration analysis, alignment, balancing, and condition monitoring techniques.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively across departments and lead technicians and contractors.
