Job Brief:The Planning Engineer will be responsible for developing, monitoring, and controlling project schedules across multiple phases of water treatment and construction projects. The role involves detailed planning, progress tracking, resource management, and delay analysis to ensure projects are executed within defined timelines and contractual requirements.
The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in project scheduling tools, particularly Primavera P6, along with experience in water treatment, construction, or oil and gas industries. The role requires analytical thinking, strong coordination skills, and the ability to manage project timelines, risks, and reporting with high accuracy and accountability.
Job Responsibilities:- Develop, update, and maintain Level 1 to Level 4 project schedules using Primavera P6 or MS Project.
- Prepare baseline schedules aligned with project scope, Bill of Quantities (BOQ), resources, and contractual milestones.
- Identify and monitor the critical path, near-critical activities, and potential schedule risks.
- Track daily, weekly, and monthly project progress and compare it against baseline schedules and look-ahead plans.
- Prepare S-curves, dashboards, productivity reports, and perform earned value analysis (EVA).
- Conduct Critical Chain Project Management (CCPM) buffer monitoring and support recovery planning initiatives.
- Perform resource planning, including manpower, equipment, and materials, and execute resource levelling activities.
- Forecast resource requirements and identify productivity gaps in coordination with site teams.
- Conduct delay analysis using methods such as window analysis, impacted-as-planned, and as-built versus as-planned techniques.
- Support the preparation of delay claims, Extension of Time (EOT) requests, and documentation of delay drivers.
- Assess the schedule impact of scope changes, design revisions, procurement delays, and site constraints.
- Coordinate with engineering, procurement, QA/QC, HSE, and subcontractors to ensure schedule alignment.
- Participate in internal and client progress review meetings and present schedule performance updates.
- Assist in monitoring project costs by comparing budget versus actuals and preparing cash flow forecasts.
- Maintain schedule version control, update logs, and ensure compliance with contractual requirements.
- Prepare structured and timely progress reports for internal teams and client stakeholders.
- Ensure planning documents, assumptions, and constraints are clearly recorded and traceable.
- Integrate schedule updates with ERP systems and develop Excel-based trackers and analytical tools.
- Analyse productivity trends, KPIs, and variances to recommend corrective actions.
- Demonstrate ownership through proactive risk identification, early warnings, and solution-driven approaches.
- Support the preparation of as-built schedules, closeout documentation, and defect liability period (DLP) planning.
