Job Brief:

We are seeking an experienced Reliability Engineer to join a leading paper manufacturing company in Abu Dhabi. The role is responsible for developing and optimizing electrical asset reliability strategies, improving equipment performance, reducing downtime, and enhancing overall plant availability through predictive, preventive, and reliability-centered maintenance practices.

The ideal candidate will have strong experience within the tissue paper manufacturing or continuous process paper mill industry, with expertise in reliability engineering, asset management, root cause analysis, predictive maintenance technologies, and maintenance management systems. This Reliability Engineer Job in Abu Dhabi is ideal for professionals who are passionate about improving plant reliability, operational efficiency, and asset performance.

Job Responsibilities:

1. Reliability & Asset Management
  • Develop, monitor, and optimize the mill’s Electrical Asset Reliability Strategy to eliminate chronic equipment failures and maximize plant availability.
  • Conduct Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA) on major electrical equipment failures, implementing sustainable corrective actions.
  • Analyze equipment performance data and maintenance histories to identify the "Top 5 Chronic Failures" in the electrical domain, building targeted action plans to address them.
  • Manage and update equipment criticality rankings within the computerized maintenance management system (CMMS/SAP).
2. Predictive & Preventive Maintenance (PdM / PM)
  • Oversee predictive maintenance programs for electrical infrastructure, including infrared thermography, motor circuit analysis (MCA), and ultrasound testing.
  • Establish and monitor asset health indicators for critical high-voltage/low-voltage (HV/LV) substations, transformers, variable frequency drives (VFDs), PLCs, and heavy-duty motors.
  • Review and refine PM frequencies and checklists based on field data, failure trends, and OEM recommendations to move from reactive to proactive maintenance.
3. Operational Support & Continuous Improvement
  • Support maintenance planners and execution teams by creating detailed technical work procedures for complex electrical overhauls and shutdown activities.
  • Assist in managing third-party electrical maintenance contractors during planned annual shutdowns or critical emergency breakdowns.
  • Ensure all electrical modifications and engineering strategies align with Crown Paper Mill’s sustainability and energy management goals (ISO 50001), aiming to minimize energy waste.
4. QHSE Compliance
  • Maintain an absolute focus on safety, ensuring all electrical reliability activities strictly comply with UAE federal regulations and the mill's ISO 45001 (Health & Safety) and ISO 14001 (Environment) standards.
  • Ensure standard operating procedures for Arc Flash safety, Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), and high-voltage interventions are rigorously designed and followed.

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree / Graduate Degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • Minimum of 5+ years of direct engineering experience, specifically within the Tissue Paper Manufacturing or continuous process Paper Mill industry.
  • Deep understanding of tissue mill machinery components (e.g., automated stock preparation, paper machine drives, DCS/PLC automation, and high-speed rewinding lines).
  • Proven experience with predictive maintenance technologies (Thermography, Vibration analysis integration, Power Quality analysis).
  • Strong working knowledge of maintenance management software (SAP PM or equivalent CMMS).
  • Direct, collaborative communication style with the ability to work effectively alongside multinational operational teams and mill management.
  • Strong analytical mindset with a natural tendency to take ownership of plant performance.
