Job Brief:

We are seeking an experienced Senior Engineer – Substation Control & Monitoring System (SCMS) responsible for designing and preparing automation, control, SCADA, and substation control system documentation in line with client specifications.

The role includes developing drawings, signal lists, calculations, and BOQs; coordinating technical submittals and approvals with clients, consultants, vendors, and subcontractors; and supporting site supervision, inspections, FAT, and commissioning activities to ensure safe and successful project delivery.

Job Responsibilities:

Actively follow and promote the Company Safety, Security, and Quality policies and ensure that fellow employees are doing the same. These policies are to be followed at all times within the Company environment to ensure a safe and secure workplace for all.
Prepare automation and control system designs and related engineering drawings.
Develop ISMS/RGMS/LDC signal lists and submit them for client/consultant approval.
Produce basic and detailed drawings for automation and control works.
Design substation control systems and ensure proper system integration.
Coordinate control drawings and interfaces with other engineering disciplines.
Review project specifications and requirements for compliant system design.
Prepare BOQs and material plans for automation/control systems.
Perform design calculations for automation-related works.
Verify vendor/manufacturer SCADA and control equipment drawings and documents.
Review switchgear, FOC, and pilot wire technical submittals for compliance.
Verify subcontractor technical documents and coordinate approvals with clients.
Coordinate technical clarifications with the client/consultant during the design stage.
Prepare redline mark-ups and as-built drawings for final submission.
Liaise with suppliers for technical submittals, follow-ups, and documentation support.
Support project execution through site supervision, inspections, FAT, QA/QC, HSE coordination, and commissioning with end users.

Job Requirements:

Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Instrumentation & Control Engineering, Automation, or a related discipline.
Additional training in SCADA, PLC systems, or substation automation is an advantage.
Minimum 5–10 years of experience in automation, control, SCADA, or substation control systems within EPC projects.
Strong knowledge of SCADA, RTU, PLC, substation control systems, and automation engineering practices.
Skilled in preparing signal lists, control schematics, design calculations, BOQs, and technical submittals.
Experience reviewing vendor and subcontractor documents for compliance with client specifications.
Familiarity with IEC standards, utility requirements, and EPC project execution processes.
Proficient in AutoCAD, MS Office, and document control platforms such as Aconex/EDMS.
Strong coordination and communication skills with clients, consultants, and suppliers.
Fluent in English, both written and spoken.
Arabic language skills are preferred and would be considered an advantage.
Additional languages would be beneficial in multicultural project environments.
